PENSACOLA, Fla. – Three different players scored goals on Sunday afternoon as the University of West Florida women's soccer team stayed perfect in Gulf South Conference play after beating Delta State, 3-0.
Emilie Dueck Doerkesen found the back of the net first for the Argos with a goal in the third minute of action. It was the senior's first goal of the season.
UWF dominated most of the possession and put pressure on the Delta State defense. The Argos finished the game with 17 total shots to just two from the visitors.
Kendall Blackmon gave UWF a 2-0 lead in the second half with a goal at the 71:22 mark, assisted by
Emma Beltz.
Jillian Thompson added the third goal late in the contest to give the Argos a 3-0 lead.
Maciah Lipsey made one save in the clean sheet. She now has four shutouts this season.
UWF has never lost to Delta State and hold an 18-0-1 overall record against the Lady Statesmen.
The Argos will face Spring Hill on Thursday, at 6 p.m. at the UWF Soccer Complex.
