PENSACOLA, Fla. – Delaney Trushel scored a career-high 21 points as an Argo to push University of West Florida women's basketball into their tenth conference win this season.
UWF took down University of West Alabama in their rescheduled matchup on Monday night, 68-58. The next Argo behind Trushel was
Rylie Stephens with 14 points.
Haidyn Pitsch tied her season-best seven rebounds.
The game was tied 12-12 after the first quarter with a slow start for both sides. UWF went on to outscore the Tigers in every quarter. The Argos got their final lead with 3:41 left before heading into the half and ended it five points up on the Tigers.
West Florida held their lead the entire third quarter, extending to a ten-point lead with a few minutes left in the quarter. The largest lead came in the final quarter with a good layup by
Kamille Clark, making it 14-points up for the Argos at 68-54 and a minute to go. UWF finished with a 10-point lead and a 68-58 victory over UWA.
UWF shot 40-percent from the field compared to UWA at 33-percent. The Argos added 23 points off turnovers by the Tigers.
The Tigers were led offensively by Kendall Lacoste and Jada Colley with 13 points each.
UWF is back in action at home on February 1 against Valdosta State. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
