PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida women's basketball team opened up back at home after the break with an 81-58 win over Christian Brothers University on Thursday night.
Rylie Stephens led the Argos with 16 points and
Delaney Trushel was right behind her with 15. Stephens added 8 rebounds to her stat line and shot 4-of-5 from behind the line.
UWF struck first with a 3-pointer from Trushel to start the game off. They held their lead until a tie game at 14-14 with 1:14 left in the first quarter but were able to add three more points to finish the quarter ahead. West Florida extended their lead to 11 points in the second quarter at 33-22, finishing out the first half up by five.
The Argos pushed to a 20-point lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Buccaneers 28-18. The largest lead held came in the final quarter with a 3-pointer from
Haidyn Pitsch, making it 73-49. West Florida finished the game with a 23-point victory to move to 7-1 in conference play.
UWF outshot Christian Brothers in every quarter, shooting 42-percent compared to the Lady Buccaneers 38-percent.
The Lady Buccaneers were led offensively by Lamonnie Owens with 13 points. Jada Hood recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Argos will return to action at home on January 11 against Union. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
