CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of West Florida volleyball team clinched the 1-seed in the 2025 GSC tournament a gritty five-set comeback win at Lee on Friday night, taking a 3–2 victory (17–25, 23–25, 25–22, 25–22, 15–10) at Paul Dana Walker Arena. With the win, the Argonauts improve to 24-5 overall and 17-2 in conference play.
After dropping the opening two sets, West Florida stormed back by winning the final three frames behind an explosive offensive turnaround and clutch defensive efforts.
Aniston Cochran delivered a career night, posting 16 kills on a blistering .484 hitting percentage while adding 22 points behind strong work at the net and service line.
Kumara Flanagain added 15 kills on a .361 clip,
Bianca Guceanu supplied 11 kills at .529, and
Emily Breazeale posted 12 kills, giving the Argos four hitters in double figures.
Setter Gabi Moutlton controlled the offense with career-high 53 assists and 17 digs, recording a double-double while guiding UWF to a .265 hitting percentage as a team. Defensively,
Maddie Mire anchored the back row with a team-high 20 digs, while
Brighton Ferguson and
Camryn Brooks combined for 26 digs to help steady the Argos during the comeback.
West Florida's block also made a late impact, tallying 16 block-assists, highlighted by Cochran's six and Vongkasemsiri's two solo blocks.
In the decisive fifth set, the Argos jumped ahead early behind Cochran and Flanagain before closing the match on a 6–2 run to complete the rally.
