Argos Win 2025 GSC Championship

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UWF women's soccer team won the 2025 Gulf South Conference Tournament after beating Montevallo 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Argos automatically earned a bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
 
The match was a hard-fought defensive battle on both fronts. The Argos held the Falcons to only three shots in the first half. Makayla Parkes and JoHannah Peterson led a strong defense for UWF. They were key in keeping the Falcons from scoring.
 
Megan Gettys was able to find the back of the net in the 50th minute. Olof Thorvaldsdottir set Gettys up for her sixth goal of the season. This is Thorvaldsdottir's seventh assist of the season.
 
Belle Okoroafo made a key save in the 52nd minute to help UWF win. She now has 11 shutouts and 18 wins. Okoroafo secured a spot on the All-Tournament team.
 
Kaitlyn Herb led the Argos with four shots and one on frame.
 
Alexis Castle, Rece Grant, Okoroafo, and Mya Swinton earned a spot on the All-Tournament team. Swinton was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
 
The Argos (18-0-2) tune into the selection show Monday evening to see their seeding into the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
