ORLANDO, Fla. -The UWF women's basketball team fell to a tough Central Missouri team, 85-62 on Friday afternoon in the WBCA State Farm Showcase game hosted at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. It's the first loss of the season for the Argos.

Isabel Grimes led the scoring for UWF with 10 points and 5 assists. 

The Argos came out energized and locked in, setting the tone early with aggressive defense that forced a string of turnovers in the first quarter. Their intensity paid off as they outscored the Central Missouri Jennies by two, building confidence and finding a strong offensive rhythm.

By halftime, however, the Jennies had steadied themselves. Despite UWF's early momentum, Central Missouri edged ahead and took a 31–24 lead into the break.

The turning point came in the third quarter. Central Missouri used a 10–0 run in the opening two minutes, shifting the momentum decisively. 

The biggest difference in the game came on the boards with Central Missouri out rebounding the Argos 37-22. The Jennies generated 18 second chance points off of 15 offensive rebounds. 

In the fourth quarter, the Argos continued to fight. Grimes provided a late spark with back-to-back three-pointers, and UWF hit several key shots to keep the pressure on. But the teams ultimately traded baskets, and the earlier deficit proved too large to overcome.

UWF is set to travel to Puerto Rico on Saturday to play a pair of games against UPR Rio Pedras and UPR Mayaquez. The games will be played on Monday and Tuesday.
