PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF Women's Soccer season came to an end on Sunday afternoon as the Argos fell in a hard-fought battle to Florida Tech, 2-1, in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division II Tournament.
From the beginning the Florida Tech came out strong and scored in the third minute, taking a 1-0 lead.
Olof Thorvaldsdottir took a free kick for the Argos in the 28
th minute.
Jillian Thompson was able to head the ball and find the net, tying the game 1-1.
Going into the second half, the Argos took control of the ball. UWF outshot the Panthers in the second half, 11-6. Thorvaldsdottir led with seven shots and four on goal.
The Panthers were able to score a second time in the 79
th minute, finishing the match 2-1. The Argos did not back down and battled through all 90 minutes.
The team finished the season with an 18-1-2 overall record and a Gulf South Conference Championship. This was the team's 19
th national tournament appearance in program history.
