Ja'Kobe Clinton has been selected as a First Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). He was also named to the D2 Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-America Second Team. Clinton is just the third player in program history to earn AFCA fist team honors.
The redshirt senior has racked up the awards this postseason after being named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team selection for the D2CCA All-Region team.
Clinton had 78 tackles on the season with 19 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He also had two interceptions, seven pass break ups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. In the Argos 31-24 road win over Northeastern State Clinton had nine tackles with 3.5 TFL's and a sack. Three games later Clinton posted another nine tackle game in a win over West Virginia St. that included three TFL's, two sacks, a fumble recovery and pass break up.
Clinton was the second leading tackler on the team and ranked top 20 in NCAA Division II in TFL's.
