PENSACOLA, Fla. – During Saturday's senior day ceremony UWF men's basketball player
Le'Tarion White mentioned his favorite moment as an Argo was a highlight poster dunk last season. White may need to add a new moment to his list after the senior hit the game-winning shot in his final game as an Argo to down Auburn University of Montgomery, 84-83.
White pulled up a couple steps in from the 3-point arc and drained the winner with nine seconds left on the clock. AUM never got a shot off to try to win the game on their end.
It was a special moment for White who scored 19 points in his final game. He was joined by
Rodney Bryant,
Zondrick Garrett and
Eli Brown on the court who were also playing in their final game. Bryant scored 22 points and had six assists. Garrett added 15 points and Brown had four points. Leading the offense for UWF was
Ryan Payne with his highest scoring output as an Argo. Payne went 7-of-11 from beyond the arc and scored 24 points.
It was a back-and-forth game with the lead changing hands 12 times. Payne's last second triple at the buzzer gave UWF a 51-44 lead at the half.
AUM regained the lead with seven minutes remaining in the second half and the only time the Argos recaptured the lead was when White hit the game-winning shot.
