VALDOSTA, Ga. - No. 18 UWF women's tennis (7-3, 4-0 GSC) rebounded from a 7-0 loss to No. 2 Nova Southeastern on Tuesday with a huge 5-2 GSC road win over Valdosta State (1-5, 0-2 GSC) on Friday afternoon. The win is the Argos' third straight GSC road win and is their 20th win over the Blazers in 21 meetings, avenging a lost opportunity for a 20th straight last season in a 4-3 home upset loss.
 
The Argos wasted no time, coming up with a clean sweep of doubles. At No. 3, Aline Midori Da Silva and Guadalupe Martinez defeated Kayla Greco and Valentina Jimenez 6-3. Carlota Verdu and Sandra Recuenco then lived up to their new ITA National Doubles rank of No. 9 at the top of the lineup with a 6-4 win over Alyssa Novoa and Olivia Pezo. Nathalia Mossambani and Luiza Daud wrapped things up there with a 6-4 win of their own over Viktoriia Fedorova and Natalie Rainke. 
 
Martinez began singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win on court four versus Greco. In a battle of top-50 ITA National Singles players, Rainke pulled her team within one at the top of the lineup with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Verdu. Novoa then pulled off a 7-5, 6-4 win over Recuenco one court over to tie the match. At the bottom of the lineup, freshman Alberte Joergensen stepped up once again with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jimenez. At No. 3, Midori Da Silva claimed the lone three-set matchup of the day 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 over Pezo to clinch the match before Mossambani set the final score with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Federova on court five.
 
With tomorrow's neutral-site match versus Lynn postponed and potentially canceled due to weather, UWF is set to return home for its next GSC matchup on Tuesday, March 11, against No. 19 and defending GSC champion West Alabama.
