Auburn Montgomery controlled the first few innings of the game starting with a 2-RBI single in the first and a 2-RBI inside the park home run in the third. In that time, UWF went down in order in all three innings.
Harper came in to pitch in the fourth and the Warhawks still proceeded to do damage, scoring on a double followed by a wild pitch. A walk and a stolen base to second put another in scoring position, but UWF closed the frame, limiting it to a single run.
UWF finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when
Olivia Keith was hit by a pitch and Moon doubled to score her. Moon advanced to third on a wild pitch and Harper was walked. Brice doubled to left center scoring them both.
Down 3-5 entering the fifth, the Argos held AUM to just a walk but went in order once again in the fifth. In the sixth, AUM knocked a solo home run to jump up to 3-6. In the bottom of the inning, UWF recorded two hits and forced a pitching change for AUM. Brice singled up the middle to score
Brianna Jennings as a pinch runner and brought it closer at 4-6 Warhawks.
In the seventh, UWF overcame a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the inning to keep the score intact. The Warhawks recorded two straight singles, a fielder's choice, and a walk to load the bases. With two outs, Harper closed the frame with a swinging strikeout.
The Argos were down to their final three outs in the bottom of the seventh. Down 5-6, UWF wasted no time loading the bases on three-straight second pitch bunts for singles. With one out, Moon singled to right field scoring
Bella Holliday. Hayes stepped up to the plate and delivered the hit of her young career, singling through the middle on her fourth pitch and scoring
Kyndal Cornelius and
Gianna Guerriero to walk-off the championship 7-6 and give the Argos their fifth softball conference title in history.
