PENSACOLA, Fla. –
Alexis Castle scored both goals for the University of West Florida women's soccer team on Thursday evening, leading to a 2-0 shutout win over Lynn. The Argos move to a 2-0-1 record.
Castle found the back of the net twice in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Castle was assisted by
Nicola Salawa.
Kristen Phillips then assisted her in the 83rd minute.
"Lexi Castle was able to step up and give us two goals that were desperately needed," head coach
Joe Bartlinski said. "Happy for her and happy for the team."
The Argos offense was in attack mode all game, controlling the majority of play in Lynn's half of the field. UWF outshot the Knights 29-4 with 13 shots on goal. The Argos also produced 12 corner kick opportunities.
Belle Okoroafo recorded her first shutout of the season and the first as an Argo.
The Argos will face Tampa on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the UWF Soccer Complex.
