PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's soccer team fell in its season opener on the road to Tampa, 3-1. 

Three of the game's four goals were scored in the first 22 minutes of the contest. Tampa notched the first two goals in the 7th minute and 20th minute. 

The Argos responded just three minutes after Tampa's second goal to get on the board and cut the deficit to one. Audrey Gentil was the goal scorer off the assist from Rafael Esteves.
 
The Spartans added another goal early in the second half to go up 3-1. 

"It was a tough way to open the season," head coach Bill Elliott said. "I believe we showed some of the quality we have on the ball but only during certain spells of the game. We just have to build on those good moments."

UWF will play Saint Leo on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Saint Leo dropped its season opener on Thursday to Auburn Montgomery, 3-1.
