PENSACOLA, Fla. – Outfielder Alex Urias was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) 2026 Division II Preseason All-South Region Team.

Urias was the lone player from West Florida named to the list and was one of three Gulf South Conference players.

The redshirt sophomore was the GSC Freshman of the Year last season and was the team's leader in batting percentage at .389. Urias totaled 65 hits last year with 27 RBI's and 36 runs scored.

The NCBWA also ranked UWF as the No. 3 team in the preseason regional rankings.

Urias and the Argos finished the 2025 season 36-21 and were South Region Champions. UWF will open their 2026 season on Friday at home against Florida Southern at 5 p.m.
