TYLER, Tex. - The University of West Florida women's tennis team defeated UT Tyler 6-1 on Friday in the first match of the GSC/Lonestar Crossover Tournament. The Argos secured the victory by sweeping all three doubles matches and winning five out of six singles matches.

UWF secured the doubles point decisively, sweeping all three matches. Carlota Verdu and Sandra Recuenco delivered a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles against Yona Bancarel and Claudia Di Leonardo. At No. 2 doubles, Aline Midori Da Silva and Guadalupe Martinez defeated Maria Antonio Ortega and Carla Rodier 6-1. The sweep was completed by Kylie Kochis and Laila Wassef, who won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles against Paula Castellanos and Luisa Moraes.

In singles, the Argonauts extended their lead with multiple decisive wins. Recuenco secured a 6-3, 7-6(7) victory at No. 2 singles over Maria Antonio Ortega. Midori followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles against Carla Rodier. Martinez added a point with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Paula Castellanos at No. 4 singles, while Alberte Joergensen defeated Claudia Di Leonardo 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Kochis completed a 7-5, 6-2 win over Luisa Moraes at No. 6 singles.

UT Tyler's lone point came from Yona Bancarel, who edged out Verdu in a competitive match at No. 1 singles, winning 7-5, 6-4 after a third-set tiebreaker. Despite the close contest, UWF's overall performance secured a commanding victory in the match.
