CLEVELAND, Miss. — No. 7 West Florida (16-3, 5-1 GSC) secured a commanding 9-0 victory over Delta State (4-13, 2-4 GSC) at University Field on Saturday.
This game was a five-inning run rule win for West Florida, as they tallied 11 hits and two home runs while holding the Lady Statesmen to just three hits over five innings. UWF wins its 11
th straight series over the Lady Statesmen with the 2-1 series victory.
Individual Highlights:
Jessie Baughan led the powerful hitting for the Argos, recording two home runs and four RBIs on the day. She last recorded multiple home runs in a game against UAH on March 14, 2025, becoming just the third Argo to hit three in a game in program history.
Haley Guffey (11-0) delivered a strong performance for the Argonauts, pitching 4 and 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run. Guffey faced 18 batters, giving up three hits and striking out one, while maintaining a WHIP of 0.71.
Freshman
Brianna Adams was called upon as relief, closing out the game for Guffey recording a quick out with a ground ball in just one-third of an inning, throwing four pitches with three strikes. Her effort along with Guffey's contributed to the team shutout.
Abigail Pippen collected a pinch-hit single, driving in two runs in a critical moment.
Hannah Harper scored twice, adding a double and two walks to his performance at the plate.

The action began in the second inning when
Nevaeh Hayes scored on a single by
Bella Holliday, putting the Argonauts ahead. The score was 1-0 at the end of the second inning.
The third inning saw
Jessie Baughan hit a three-run home run, driving in
Hannah Harper and
Nicole Mergen, extending West Florida's lead to 4-0.
In the fourth inning, the Argonauts capitalized on the Lady Statesmen's errors. Harper doubled and later scored, and a pinch-runner crossed home plate on a sacrifice bunt by
Emma Brice.
Abigail Pippen then singled in two more runs, bringing the score to 8-0.
Baughan struck again in the fifth inning with a solo home run to center field, bringing the final tally to 9-0. West Florida's effective pitching and solid defense kept the Lady Statesmen scoreless throughout the game.
