PENSACOLA, Fla. — The No. 2 University of West Florida women's tennis team defeated the Delta State 6-1 on Tuesday at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. The Argos secured the victory with wins in five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches.

West Florida secured the doubles point with decisive victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Carlota Verdu and Sandra Recuenco set the tone with a 6-1 win over Lena Kuehn and Anastasiia Iakovlieva on court one. Their teammates, Guadalupe Martinez and Aline Midori Da Silva, followed with a 6-2 victory against Trinity Ly and Amelia Ciesielczyk at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match remained unfinished, with Kylie Kochis and Sophie Smith leading 5-3 against Yasmina Mayer and Angie Moreno.

In singles, West Florida maintained momentum as Sophie Smith posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Angie Moreno at No. 6 singles. Martinez extended the lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Mayer in No. 3 singles action. Kochis added another point for West Florida by defeating Kuehn 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

Ciesielczyk earned the lone singles point for Delta State at No. 1 singles, overcoming Recuenco with a three-set victory, 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-6(7). Da Silva clinched the match for West Florida by besting Ly 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Alberte Jorgensen completed the singles lineup by defeating Iakovlieva 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
