COLUMBUS, Ga. — The University of West Florida (15-4) defeated Columbus State University (6-3) 5-2 on Sunday at the Walden Tennis Center. West Florida secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions and clinched the match with singles wins at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 6 spots.

The Argos secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Guadalupe Martinez and Aline Midori Da Silva claimed a decisive 6-2 win over Isabell Ek and Laura Pesickova at No. 2 doubles. Sophie Smith and Kylie Kochis followed with a 6-3 victory against Maria Markosov and Annie Adams at No. 3 doubles. The match at No. 1 doubles between Sandra Recuenco and Carlota Verdu, and Nikoline Gullacksen and Claudia De Lucas was left unfinished at 5-5.

In singles play, UWF continued their momentum with a win from Carlota Verdu at No. 1 singles, where she outlasted Nikoline Gullacksen in three sets, 6-4, 6-7(7), 10-8. Sandra Recuenco extended the lead with a straight-set victory over Monika Temkova, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. Aline Midori Da Silva further contributed with a 7-5, 6-3 win against Claudia De Lucas at No. 3 singles, bringing the dual score to 4-0, clinching the match for the Argos.

The Cougars responded at No. 4 singles, where Sofia Lauretti defeated Guadalupe Martinez in a three-set battle, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3. Laura Pesickova added another point for Columbus State with a solid 6-1, 6-1 win over Alberte Jorgensen at No. 5 singles. However, West Florida's Kylie Kochis closed out the action with a victory at No. 6 singles, overcoming Isabell Ek 6-3, 7-6(6), finalizing the dual score at 5-2 in favor of the Argos.
