PENSACOLA, Fla. – For the second straight year the UWF men's golf team has won the home Argonaut Invitational held at Pensacola Country Club. The No. 1 ranked Argos have now won four out of the five tournaments they've played in this spring.

UWF finished the 54-hole tournament with a three-stroke advantage over Lee. The Argos shot 839 (-25) which tied for their best team score of the season. The team shot 839 back in September at the Division I Sandestin Collegiate tournament.

West Florida has become comfortable with slow starts and making comebacks all throughout the spring season and it was no different at the home course. After round one the Argos were in third place, seven shot off the lead, but the team got moving in the second round with a 272 (-16) to take an eight-stroke lead heading into the final day. All five of the competing players were under par in the second round. Eddie Lee was five under, Cooper Tendick and Max Page were four under, Per Ekelund was three under and TJ Thompson was one under to close out the big second round. In addition to the scoring players six other Argos, playing as individuals shot par or better in the round.

In the final round on Tuesday UWF held off a charging Lee and St. Mary's (TX) who put up solid rounds with -11 and -13, respectively while the Argos were six under to close out the round. Page led the team with a 69 (-3) in round three which included a clean back nine of three birdies and six pars. He finished in eighth place at -7 overall.

Tendick led the team with a second-place individual finish at -10. The senior held first-place after the first two rounds and remained in the lead the majority of the final round but an unfortunate tee shot on No. 17 led to a triple bogey and loss of the lead by one stroke. It was the senior's only misstep of the day with a clean round up to that point. Tendick nearly birdied par three No. 18 to tie the lead but his putt came up just short on the lip of the cup.

The Argos will now set their sights on postseason play with the Gulf South Conference tournament as their next competition. The conference championship will be held at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn. from April 20 to 22.
