DESTIN, Fla. – In their first tournament of the season the UWF men's golf team currently sits in third place after round one at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic hosted by Texas State University at Sandestin Resort & Club.

The Argos totaled a team score of 276 (-4) in the opening round with sophomore Ethan Weinberg leading the way with a 66 (-4). Weinberg had five birdies and one bogey on the day. He is just two shots off the leader. Three other Argos shot in the 60's with Emmet Kuhlenkamp and Preston Severs shooting 69 (-1). Hector Arriaga, who is playing as an individual also shot one under.

UWF is three shots of second place team Mercer (-7) and five shots off the leader Louisiana Monroe (-9).

Last season, the Argos finished fourth in the Sandestin Collegiate as the only Division II team in the field.

The team will tee off at 9 a.m. for the second round on Tuesday.
