UWF Men’s Basketball Set to Host GSC Semifinals

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team will host the semifinal round of the Gulf South Conference Championships on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. The winner will advance to the GSC Championship game.

UWF last appeared in the GSC semifinal round in 2018, the same season that saw the Argos capture their first GSC Championship and make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Argos (23-8, 15-7 GSC) knocked off Trevecca Nazarene on Monday in the quarterfinal round in Pensacola in a thrilling overtime contest. Leading the way for West Florida was GSC Newcomer of the Year and All-GSC Second Team honoree Aric Demings as well as All-GSC Second Team selection Elijah Wyche, who both crossed the 20-point threshold against the Trojans.

Thursday marks the 27th all-time meeting between the Argos and the Flames and the third of the season. Lee leads the all-time series 17-9, but the Argos have won the last two matchups, with the most recent coming in February by a final mark of 68-64. West Florida is 6-6 against Lee at home dating back to 2013.

Lee (15-12, 11-11 GSC) enters the matchup after a big upset victory over two-seed Montevallo. The Flames outlasted the Falcons 69-65.

The winner will move on to face either West Alabama or UAH in the GSC Championship. Live stats and broadcast for the game will be available on GoArgos.com. In-game updates will be available on X.
