All mascot appearance requests must be submitted using the Argie Appearance Request Form
Argie the Argonaut serves as an official ambassador for the University of West Florida and the University of West Florida Athletic Department. Argie proudly represents the university and careful consideration is given on where, when, and why he makes appearances.
The primary role of Argie is to represent the University of West Florida Athletics, promote the teams, excite the crowd, and cheer on the Argonauts. Decisions regarding permitting Argie to appear at events outside of Athletic events and official university functions are thoughtfully considered and must fit with the University's promotional goals and objectives.
Argie the Argonaut leads a busy life as he balances his responsibilities. His availability as the university representative for events beyond his official duties must fit not only within his already busy schedule but also with the goals of the University of West Florida's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Request Timeline
All requests should be received at least one month prior to the event. If any Argie request is made with less than one month notice, there will be an additional charge. Requests will be responded to in five (5) to seven (7) business days. Submitting a request does not guarantee an appearance. The University of West Florida Athletic Department reserves the right to deny or cancel any request.
In the event that an appearance must be cancelled, athletic department personnel will try to give at least three (3) days prior notice.
Argie is available for appearances throughout the year; however the summer months, as well as holidays and dates between semesters may be harder to fulfill an appearance request.
Appearance Fees
Appearance fees vary based on the type of appearance. Payment for appearance must be submitted before the event begins. Only cash or check accepted.
Non-profit and university/internal appearances are $75 per hour which is a discounted rate to cover costs incurred.
External appearances are $150 per hour for all appearances in the Pensacola Area. Pricing for appearances outside the city of Pensacola will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Argie Appearance Policies
Accurate directions, location, on-site contact and on-site phone number must be provided. A safe and positive environment should exist before, during and after Argie's appearance.
At the event, Argie will need to have a mature, full-time escort/handler that can ensure that Argie has:
- A parking place close to the event or a ride to the event
- A private place to dress (not a public restroom)
- If the event exceeds one hour, he also needs this location to rest
- A secure location for their personal items
- Drinking water available.
Argie reserves his right to walk away from any appearance deemed unsafe or harmful and refunds will not be granted. The mascot is unable to perform in inclement or unsafe weather.
