Career: Came to West Florida in 2009 after transferring from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. In '09 Materne led the team with three triples and posted a .303 batting average while driving in 34 runs with 10 doubles and four home runs. He was named to the 2009 Gulf South Conference All-Tournament Team for his play in the conference tournament where he had a 7-for-15 performance hitting three doubles with five RBIs. In 2010 he posted a .294 batting average with nine doubles, a triple and four home runs while driving in 41 runs. In 108 career games as the everyday centerfielder for the Argonauts he has posted a career .299 batting average, hitting 19 doubles, four triples and blasting eight home runs.
2010: Started 53 games in centerfield while batting .294 on the season...Tallied nine doubles, a triple and four homeruns in his senior campaign..Third on the team with 12 multiple RBI games...Recorded back-to-back 3-for-4 days with two RBI vs. NW Missouri State (2/16-17)... Drove in three in a 3-for-4 effort at the plate against No. 4 Southern Arkansas (2/21)..Matched a season high three RBI at No. 1 Florida Southern (2/28)... Drove in two runs in the Argos 6-4 win over Arkansas Tech (3/23)... Blasted go-ahead two-run homers in each of the Argos final two wins at West Georgia, one in the top of the sixth giving the Argos a 7-6 lead and then in game three he broke a 1-1 tie in the ninth to put the Argos on top (3/27-28)..
2009: Finished his junior year with the Argonauts batting .303 on the season... Appeared in 55 games, started all but one as the everyday centerfielder... Tied for second on the team in doubles (10) and homeruns (4)... Drove in 34 runs and led the team in triples with three... Recorded 19 multiple hit games and a team high eight mulitple RBI games...Went 1-for-3 including a homerun and three RBI and three runs scored in a 13-8 win over Mobile...Went 2-for-3 with three runs scored in 6-0 shutout over No. 1 Southern Arkansas. In the series he batted .500 (6-12)Â (3/7-3/8)Â with a double, a homerun six RBI and four runs scored... Went 3-for-4 with a season high four RBI and a run scored in the Argos 6-0 shutout over Saint Leo (3/18)... Went 7-for-15 with three doubles, five RBI and three runs scored in four games played at the GSC Tournament to be named to the GSC All-Tournament Team...

High School: Played baseball for Choctawhatchee High School... Lettered four years as shortstop on the baseball team...Received Academic All-America Honors
Personal: Son of Gerald and Lorene Materne... Has two brothers, Josh and Jake...Enjoys playing golf, ping-pong, going bowling and watching T.V. in his spare time..
