Baker enters his second season as the Argos Offensive Coordinator after being hired as part of
Kaleb Nobles’ staff in January of 2025.
Serving as the Offensive Coordinator and WR Coach in 2025, Baker helped guide the
Argonauts to a 10-2 record, a share of the Gulf South Conference Championship, and an
appearance in the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Under Baker’s direction, West
Florida developed one of the nation’s most productive offensive units, ranking 7th nationally in
total offense while averaging 462.8 yards and 37.3 points per game. The Argonauts totaled
5,554 yards of offense and 61 offensive touchdowns while establishing a balanced attack that
averaged 281.3 passing yards and 181.6 rushing yards per contest.
The success of the offense was highlighted by the development and production of its
student-athletes. Quarterback Marcus Stokes earned Gulf South Conference Offensive Player
of the Year honors, D2CCA Super Region Two Offensive Player of the Year recognition, and
was named a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded annually to the top player in NCAA
Division II football. Stokes finished the season with 3,297 passing yards, 30 passing
touchdowns, 367 rushing yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns, accounting for 3,664 total yards of
offense while leading one of the top offenses in the country.
West Florida’s offensive success was also reflected in the production of its skill players and
dominant performance of the offensive line. Wide receiver Corey Scott earned First Team
All-GSC and All-Region honors after recording 63 receptions for 1,018 yards and four
touchdowns, finishing among the nation’s leaders in receiving production. Fellow wide receiver
Tyree Holloway earned Second Team All-GSC honors after contributing 34 receptions for 661
yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 19.4 yards per reception and providing a consistent
explosive threat on the perimeter. Running back TJ Lane earned First Team All-GSC honors
after rushing for 869 yards and 11 touchdowns, helping give the Argonauts a balanced offensive
attack that challenged defenses in multiple ways.
The depth and consistency of the offense was recognized throughout the conference, as West
Florida placed 10 offensive players on the All-Gulf South Conference teams. First Team All-GSC
selections included Stokes, Lane, Scott, tight end Jake Robinette, and offensive tackle Issiah
Walker, while Second Team honorees included Holloway, center Jabari Edwards, guards Levi
Johnson and Trevaris Edwards, and tackle Camaar Epps.
Before arriving at West Florida, Baker coached at Division II North Greenville University,
Coaching the Wide Receivers for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, before getting promoted to
Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Under Baker's
guidance, quarterback Dylan Ramirez accounted for more than 5,000 yards of total offense,
while wide receiver Dre’ Williams emerged as one of the region’s most explosive playmakers,
totaling more than 1,300 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns during the two-year span. Running
back Corey Watkins finished the 2023 season with 1,064 rushing yards on 179 carries,
averaging 5.9 yards per carry, and scoring five touchdowns.
A 3 year letterwinner from North Greenville, Baker played quarterback for NGU and was
selected as a Team Captain in 2019 for his senior year of competition.
Baker is married to his wife, Holly, who is UWF Alumni and former UWF Volleyball standout
athlete. Together, they have one son, Boone Baker, and are expecting a baby girl in winter of
2027.
