William "Kylle" Shoemaker joined UWF as an assistant coach in June 2016 and is the special teams coordinator for the Argonauts.
 
In 2018, UWF had some of the most efficient special teams play in the country. The Argonauts led the nation in net punting, yielding minus-9 total yards on opponent returns. The kickoff return unit was 38th nationally with a 18.3 return average.

In his second season, the Argos allowed just 6.1 yards per return to rank 40th in the country. Sophomore place kicker Austin Williams broke the GSC single-season field goals made record with 27. Antoine Griffin led the league and was seventh nationally with. a 15.8 punt return average.

In the inaugural season in 2016, Marcus Clayton and Anas Hasic each ranked in the top eight of the GSC in kickoff returns with just over 21 yards per return.

Prior to moving to the Panhandle, Shoemaker spent three seasons at Missouri S&T, including the 2015 campaign as the Miners' defensive coordinator. He has also worked with the defensive backs, linebackers, special teams and handled team travel during his time at S&T.
 
In 2015, the S&T defense ranked tenth in the country in tackles for loss with 8.7 per game and 19th in sacks with 3.1 per contest. Additionally, four players earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference recognition as they helped the defense rank first in both sacks and opponent fourth-down efficiency. 
 
"I've known of Kylle for a long time," Shinnick said. "He's worked with two of my closest friends in Brian Wilmer (formerly at Azusa Pacific) and Victor Santa Cruz (at Azusa Pacific), and we are very excited to add him and Melissa to our UWF family."
 
Prior to his time in Rolla, Missouri, Shoemaker spent three years in California. In 2011, he was on the staff at Azusa Pacific, where he coached the team's hybrid linebackers and handled all of the team's video productions, following three seasons at Cal Poly as a student assistant. The 2011 team at APU went 9-3 and was ranked as high as No. 5 nationally. The squad possessed the 20th-ranked rushing defense and ranked fifth in sacks in the NAIA ranks.
 
Shoemaker earned his bachelor's degree in business from Cal Poly in 2010 and his master's degree in organizational leadership from Azusa Pacific in 2012.
 
He is originally from Encinitas, California, where he was a three-year starter at linebacker at Santa Fe Christian High School. Shoemaker was a two-time All-Coastal League selection and finished second on the team in tackles (94) for the Eagles in 2005 as they advanced to the California Interscholastic Federation championship game. He had 84 tackles as a 2004 junior when Santa Fe Christian won the CIF crown. He also lettered in volleyball for the Eagles.
 
Shoemaker and his wife, Melissa, have a 3-year-old daughter Keziah.
