Matt Mendez is in his third season at UWF, joining the football coaching staff in the summer of 2017.
He has served as the tight ends coach for the Argonauts the past two seasons. In 2017, Austin Blake-Smith established school receiving records by a tight end when he caught 23 passes for 193 yards and four touchdowns.
He came to the Gulf Coast after two years at Ave Maria University. Mendez served the previous three seasons at Lake Nona High School in Orlando, Fla. At Lake Nona, he held several positions, including receivers coach and assistant strength coach.
Mendez graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Sports and Exercise Science.
