Vincent Jefferies Jr. joined the University of West Florida football staff as an assistant coach working with the wide receivers in August 2026.

Jefferies comes to Pensacola after serving as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Florida A&M. In that role, he assisted with the development and implementation of the passing game while preparing weekly plans for stacks and bunch formations, early-down passing situations and third downs. He also contributed to red-zone and situational game planning and worked directly with the offensive coordinator on game days. Under his direction, the Rattlers' wide receiver corps amassed more than 2,000 receiving yards.

Before returning to his alma mater, Jefferies spent the 2024 season as the wide receivers coach at Western Illinois. He worked closely with head coach Joe Davis on the installation of the weekly passing game and helped scheme early-down concepts, shot plays, third-down situations and two-point plays. Jefferies helped oversee a wide receiver unit that totaled more than 2,900 receiving yards while assisting with an offense that ranked first in the Ohio Valley Conference. He mentored a First Team All-OVC selection in wide receiver Matthew Henry.

Jefferies spent two seasons at Illinois as a graduate assistant working with the wide receivers. During his time with the Fighting Illini, he assisted with game planning, film breakdown, position meetings and individual drills while helping develop the program's wide receivers. Among the players he worked with was First Team All-Big Ten selection Isaiah Williams. Jefferies also gained experience coaching on special teams, evaluating recruits and transfer portal prospects and preparing scouting reports and offensive meeting materials.

He began his collegiate coaching career at NC State, serving as a student assistant with the quarterbacks from 2021-22. Jefferies assisted the offensive staff with weekly self-scouting, opponent scouting reports, quarterback development and film breakdown while also serving as a live signaler for the offensive skill positions on game days.

Before beginning his coaching career, Jefferies played quarterback at Florida A&M from 2016-17. He served as a team captain during his senior season and was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy. He was also a two-time MEAC All-Academic Team selection and earned Dean's List and Honor Roll recognition throughout his undergraduate career.

Jefferies earned his bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in coaching from Florida A&M in 2017, graduating magna cum laude. He later completed graduate coursework at NC State in sports entertainment and venue management and at Illinois in recreation and sport tourism.
