2017 (R-Jr.): Made 23 tackles while appearing in 11 games at Abilene Christian ... Had four tackles and a 13-yard interception return at Colorado State (9/9/17) ... Season-high five tackles - one for loss - vs. McNeese State (10/7/17) ... Had an 11-yard kickoff return against Stephen F. Austin (9/23/17).

2016 (R-So.): Saw action in all 11 games, making starts against Air Force, Northern Colorado, Stephen F. Austin and Incarnate Word ... Finished the season with 36 tackles (24 solo), one sack and one forced fumble ... at Air Force (9/3/16) he had a career high 12 tackles, nine solo, one tackle for loss and one sack.

Unanimous First Team All-District 5-5A selection after leading the Hawks to an 8-4 record and into the second round of the state playoffs ... He also had three sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception ... As a junior in 2012, Burford was a first team all-District 5-5A selection who was selected to the US National football team ... As a sophomore in 2011 he was an all-District 8-5A honorable mention selection ... Also lettered in basketball and track and field.

PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 19, 1995 ... Son of Ernest and Bonita Burford. His grandfather, Ernest Burford, was a professional boxer at the middleweight level, fighting 65 times from 1956-70 and posting an all-time record of 37-24-4.
