David Pruett was named a graduate assistant coach for the men's basketball team prior to the 2015-16 season. Pruett served as an assistant coach for one year at Lander University under Burkhamer where he helped lead the Bearcats to the best start in program history with a 13-0 record during the 2014-15 men’s basketball season.
Prior to coaching at his alma mater, Pruett played basketball professionally in Langen, Germany for TVL Langen in the German second division during the 2013-14 season.
As a student-athlete at Lander, Pruett tallied 1400 career points in three seasons and finished his career ranked in the top six in multiple shooting categories. His senior year he led the Lander Bearcats in scoring with 17.5 points while shooting 38 percent from the three point line. Pruett was a three-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week and also was named to the Peach Belt Conference Academic Team in 2013. He earned the 2013 Finis Horne Team MVP Award in 2013 and a 2-13 Team Academic Award honoree. Pruett graduated from Lander University in the spring of 2013.
Pruett competed for PBC opponent Armstrong State for one season prior to transferring to Lander. During his freshman campaign at Armstrong, he averaged 7 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game and had a season high 21 points against Clayton State.
Pruett attended Lakeview Academy High School in Gainesville, Georgia and was the 8A Region Player of the Year as a senior. He also earned first-team All-State and All-Area honors for the Lions. Pruett led Lakeview Academy to their first region championship and first state tournament win in school history. He finished his career with 1,961 points, the second most in school history.
