Patrick Corrigan enters his first season as Associate Head Coach for the University of West Florida men's basketball program in 2026-27, bringing 13 years of collegiate coaching experience to Pensacola.

In his role, Corrigan serves as a key member of head coach Tanner Smith's staff and is involved in all facets of the program, including player development, practice planning, game preparation, scouting, recruiting and day-to-day operations. Corrigan and Smith previously spent three seasons together on the men's basketball staff at UNC Charlotte.

Corrigan joined West Florida following four seasons as the head men's basketball coach at Ferrum College, where he guided the Panthers through one of the most successful stretches in program history. Under Corrigan's leadership, the Panthers recorded three consecutive 16-plus win seasons, marking the first time the program accomplished the feat in more than 40 years.
His tenure culminated with a historic 2025-26 season as Ferrum transitioned from NCAA Division III to Division II and joined Conference Carolinas. Picked 16th out of 16 teams in the league's preseason poll, the Panthers finished 16-11 overall and 14-6 in conference play to place third in the standings. The 14 conference victories set a program record, while Corrigan was named Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.
Ferrum's first season at the Division II level also featured a victory over No. 1-ranked UNC Pembroke, a seven-game winning streak and an appearance in the Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals. The Panthers' 16 victories gave the program three straight seasons with at least 16 wins for the first time in more than four decades.
Corrigan's teams also made significant strides during Ferrum's final seasons at the Division III level. The Panthers finished 17-9 in 2024-25, an 11-win improvement from Corrigan's first season and Ferrum's highest win total since 2011. Ferrum placed sixth in the ODAC and advanced to the conference tournament quarterfinals for the third consecutive season, making the Panthers one of only six ODAC programs to reach that stage in each of those three years.
In 2023-24, Corrigan guided Ferrum to 16 wins, its highest total since 2011 at the time. The Panthers defeated No. 19 Virginia Wesleyan for the program's first victory over a nationally ranked opponent since 1989 and earned their first road win at Roanoke since 2010. Ferrum also won an opening-round ODAC Tournament game before advancing to the quarterfinals.
Player development was a hallmark of Corrigan's tenure, as he recruited and developed multiple all-conference performers and an Academic All-American. During Ferrum's 2025-26 season, Gerren Jones ranked 10th nationally in scoring at 22.2 points per game while earning First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region honors. Rodrigo Farias earned Third Team All-Conference recognition, while Alfredo Abel-Rivera averaged 16.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game and completed his career ranked sixth in program history with 1,288 points and third with 658 rebounds.
Several players Corrigan coached at Ferrum also went on to pursue professional careers. Shone Hicks signed professional contracts in Finland, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic after earning Offensive Player of the Year honors in Finland, while Calvin Washington continued his career professionally in China.
Corrigan was selected to participate in the 2023 Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program, an initiative designed to help experienced assistants and emerging head coaches further develop their coaching philosophies on and off the court. He was also named to the Silver Waves Media Rising Stars list as one of 75 emerging Division I assistants and small-college head coaches from across the country.
Prior to becoming Ferrum's head coach, Corrigan spent the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Cal Poly Pomona. He helped the Broncos earn an NCAA Tournament appearance, climb as high as No. 21 nationally and finish among the country's top defensive teams. Cal Poly Pomona also defeated two nationally ranked opponents and produced three all-conference selections that season.
Corrigan spent the 2020-21 season as Director of College Placement and a coach with West Coast Elite, one of the largest AAU organizations on the West Coast. He helped 40 players advance to play college basketball while also serving as an assistant coach at Windward High School, where he worked with three ESPN Top 50 prospects and helped the program advance to the state playoff quarterfinals.
His time as Ferrum's head coach marked his second stint with the Panthers. Corrigan initially joined the program as an assistant coach in 2018-19 before being promoted to Associate Head Coach for the 2019-20 season. Ferrum finished 15-12 during the 2019-20 season, improving its win total by 10 games while earning a pair of victories over nationally ranked Guilford College and securing the first ODAC Tournament victory in program history.
Corrigan began his collegiate coaching career at NCAA Division I UNC Charlotte, spending five seasons with the 49ers from 2013-18. He served as Associate Director of Basketball Operations during his final three seasons after beginning as a program assistant and graduate assistant. During his tenure, Charlotte won the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off with a victory over No. 14 Michigan, while 10 players from the program went on to sign professional contracts. Corrigan worked under Alan Major, Ryan Odom and former NBA All-Star Mark Price during his time with the 49ers.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Corrigan was a four-year point guard at Hampden-Sydney College. He helped the Tigers post a 23-5 overall record and 14-2 conference mark while winning the ODAC regular-season championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2013. Corrigan served as team captain during his senior season and graduated from Hampden-Sydney in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics and Psychology.
