Biography
Fifth year senior who missed spring 2009 with an ankle injury and is back to compete in the spring track season in 2010.
2008: Finished his senior year with a 24th place finish at the GSC Championships and 51st at the NCAA South Region Championships.
2007: Consistently one of the top four for the Argos in 2007...Was the third Argo finisher at the GSC championships with a 22nd place in 28:12 for the 8K (5 mile) event.
2006: Posted an 8K time of 28:26.44 at the 8K Columbus State Invitational.
2005: Participated in four races... Finished 11th with an 8K time of 29:21 at the UWF Invitational (9/3)... Improved his 8K time to 28:32 for a 21st place finish at the Blazer Invitational (9/24)... Named to the GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
High School: Lettered in cross county, track and soccer... Ran a 4:31 mile, a 9:57 two-mile and a 16:09 5K... Received All-State honors... Four-time All-Area selection... Four-time Choctaw Runner of the Year.
Personal: Son of David Gates and Mickey Gaines... Has three siblings: Kalvin, Colleen and Britni... Helped build a press box for a local stadium with a group of Boy Scouts... Did public address announcing, kept score and raked the field for the Shalimar Little League All-Stars... Participated in a beach clean-up... Has a two year old daughter, Hannah...Is majoring in Finance.
