Lee Irving continues his work with the West Florida men's soccer program as part of a long history of assisting head coach Bill Elliott. Irving came to West Florida along with Elliott and was an assistant coach in 1995 and 1996, and he returned to the coaching staff in 2003. He also served as an assistant coach under Elliott at Tennessee Wesleyan from 1993 to 1995.
Irving holds an NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma and his main duties include training goalkeepers as well as conditioning and fitness. The Newcastle, England native is currently the Program Developer for Baptist Occupational Health and Urgent Care in Pensacola FL.
Irving was team captain at John Spence Community High School in North Shields, England in 1982-87 before attending Tynemouth 6th Form College from 1987-88. During this time, he won the Mitre Schoolboys National Championship with the Northumberland Schoolboys U-19 team in 1988 before departing for the USA. Irving was a team captain and all-region selection at F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, N.Y. in 1988-89 and went on to be a four-year starter at Tennessee Wesleyan College from 1989-1992. In addition to his collegiate career, Irving played professionally with the U.S.I.S.L. Chattanooga Express, the D-III Mobile Revellers and the Pensacola Barracudas along with Coach Elliott.
Irving earned his bachelor's degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College in Physical Education and Health in 1994. He received his master's degree from West Florida in Health, Leisure and Exercise Science in 1997 and was named Outstanding Student in the HLES Department in the same year. Irving is married to Heather Hopkins Irving has two children, Grace and Aidan.
