Coach Ashley

Ashley Brown

Ashely Brown is in her second season at UWF, joining the women's basketball program as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in June 2024.

With a successful first season apart of UWF, the Argos went 20-11 and made a run in the NCAA tournament.

Brown has 10 years of coaching experience and spent the last three seasons at West Virginia University Tech in Beckley, West Virginia, including last year as the head coach.

"I am so incredibly grateful and honored to be joining Coach Yelton and the women's basketball program at UWF," Brown said. "I want to thank Associate Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Scott and Head Women's Basketball Coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton, for this opportunity.

"I look forward to working with Coach Yelton, UWF, and the great student-athletes to help continue to grow the women's basketball program on and off the court. I am excited to learn and grow under an amazing coach and person in Coach Yelton. I can't wait to get to work! Go Argos!"

"Ashley Brown will be a tremendous asset to our coaching staff," Yelton said. "She has risen in the ranks and has great experience as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. I am excited that she will help lead our young women both on and off the court."
As an assistant and associate head coach under Roger Hodge, she helped the Golden Bears to a 32-29 record prior to becoming head coach, qualifying for the River States Conference tournament both years. WVT ranked 11th in the NAIA in scoring at 78.6 points per game and was fourth in three-point percentage at 37.5 percent. The Golden Bears also ranked 17th nationally in team grade-point average at 3.54.

Prior to her time at WVT, she was an assistant at Charleston Catholic H.S., helping the varsity girls program reach the 2021 West Virginia State tournament.

She began her coaching career at the AAU level, coaching for the West Virginia Infinity and West Virginia Storm.

Brown played for Concord University from 2010-14 before earning a Regents Bachelors degree, along with a Masters from West Virginia University in Sports Management.

As a player in high school, she led Summers County H.S. to four West Virginia AA State Championships. She was a 3-time West Virginia AA All-State honoree.
