Todd Steelman is in his third season at UWF after spending two years as the head coach at Division I Presbyterian.
In the last two seasons, UWF has won 32 games and advanced to the NCAA South Region Semifinals in 2019.
The Hickory, North Carolina, native compiled a 25-36 overall record at Presbyterian with a 19-17 record in the Big South Conference and led five all-conference players and six conference players of the week at PC.
Prior to his time at Presbyterian, Steelman was the associate head coach at the University of Maine for four years, and he held the same position at Ball State from 2010-12. At Ball State, Steelman was chosen by CollegeInsider.com as one of the Top 25 Mid-Major Assistant Coaches. Steelman has also been an assistant coach at Clemson from 2005-10 and Rice from 2003-05.
A member of both the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Steelman graduated with a B.S. in Broadcasting from John Brown in 1989 before doing graduate studies work in Recreation Sports Administration at North Carolina from 1993-95. While at North Carolina, Steelman worked as a volunteer with the 1993-94 NCAA Championship women's basketball team, on which Yelton played.
Steelman is the father of three children, Matthew, Hannah and Jonathan, and has a grandchild, Hampton.
