Kortney Webb is in her second season as a volunteer assistant for UWF volleyball.
Webb brings a wealth of experience as an award-winning middle blocker and a 4-year letter winner at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala., from 2017-2021 for coach Tori Renda. Webb (née Barnes) received All-Conference honors each of her last three seasons from the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) after being named to the All-Freshman Team in 2017. Across 473 sets played for her career, Webb totaled 921 kills on a .221 hitting percentage, 148 digs, 445 total blocks, 103 of them solo, 16 assists and 10 aces.
Her most successful campaign came as a senior in the COVID-affected 2020 season played in spring of 2021. As she helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 14-11 record and 10-4 in SSAC play and a finish in the SSAC semifinals, she racked up 194 kills in her most efficient offensive season with a .248 hitting mark and an average of 2.16 per set. She also tallied 105 total blocks, 29 of them solo, leading the conference and placing 17th nationally, with 45 digs in just 90 sets on the season. For her efforts, she won SSAC Player of the Year, earned First Team All-SSAC honors for the first time and placed on the All-SSAC Tournament team for the second time while also earning AVCA All-Region honors.
As a sophomore in 2018, Webb played a key role for a historic Lady Eagles squad that earned the program’s first SSAC Tournament Championship and berth in the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament, going 28-12 overall and 14-2 in SSAC play. With 261 kills and .243 hitting, she was one of seven All-SSAC players on the squad, including 2018 Libero of the Year and former UWF assistant coach Julianne Wilkes. Webb also totaled 131 blocks in 2017 on her way to SSAC All-Freshman Team and All-SSAC Tournament honors for the first time as the team finished 18-12 and advanced to the conference title match.
Webb sits in third place in program history in blocks with 439, 66 clear of fourth. She is tied for the most blocks in a match in Faulkner history with 13 against Point as a freshman and the third-most with 10 against Mobile in the 2020-21 SSAC Tournament.
A three-time All-Academic Team honoree, Webb took home additional academic honors as a senior, winning 2020-21 SSAC Barnes & Noble College Scholar-Athlete of the Year and placing on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Second Team with a 3.89 GPA. She also won CoSIDA Academic All-Region® honors in 2020-21 and 2018 as one of nine volleyball honorees in a district covering 22 states. For her work on the court and in the classroom, she served on the SSAC Student Leadership Council and was named to the 2018 SSAC Champions of Character Team. Webb graduated from Faulkner with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
