MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – No. 2-ranked Barry blanked the No. 8-ranked West Florida women’s tennis team, 9-0, today in Miami Shores. With the loss, West Florida moves to 8-5 overall. Barry is now 14-0 and ranked No. 1 in the South Region. West Florida is currently No. 3 in the South.

Barry swept doubles. At the No. 1 position, Cristina Valladares and Mona Mansour defeated Argonauts Caitlyn Baines (Ft. Walton Beach) and Sheila Smiley (Richmond Hill, Ontario), 8-6. Vojka Lukic and Julie Stas did not drop a game in their 8-0 victory over West Florida’s duo of Barbara Oliveira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Mariana Sonnervig (Sao Paulo, Brazil) at the No. 2 line. Caroline Wendling and  Linda Fritschken defeated Luiza Sonnervig (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Hannah Durham (Hammond, La.), 8-4, at No. 3.

Barry won all six singles matches in straight sets. Lukic, who is ranked No. 33 nationally in singles, blanked Mariana Sonnervig, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1. At the No. 2 position, No. 47-ranked Fritschken dropped one game in her 6-1, 6-0 victory over Luiza Sonnervig. Sarah Krohnen defeated Smiley, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3. At the No. 4 spot, Stas defeated Baines, 6-0, 6-2. No. 49-ranked Wendling defeated West Florida senior Naomi Higa (Córdoba, Argentina), 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5. Mansour defeated Durham, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 6.
