CLINTON, Miss. – The University of West Florida men's soccer team lost its last road match of the regular season Sunday afternoon, after falling to Mississippi College 1-0 in Clinton, Mississippi.
"We struggled to keep our work rate high throughout the match and the season," said head coach Bill Elliott. "Hopefully we will realize that's what it takes to win in the near future."
The Argonauts fall to 5-8-2 (3-4-1 GSC) on the season while the Choctaws improve their record to 10-5 (5-4 GSC).
Mississippi College scored the lone goal of the match in the 29th minute after Francisco DeAnda headed one in the back of the net. West Florida totaled 12 shots in the match, four on goal, and held MC to 10 shots, five on goal. Senior Stuart McCrory (Prattville, Ala./Prattville HS) was in the net for the Argos while UWF was held scoreless for the seventh match of the season.
UWF will close out the regular season Friday, Oct. 31 at home when they host provisional Gulf South Conference member Spring Hill College at 7:30 p.m. CT.
