Carrollton, Ga. – The University of West Florida men's basketball fell to the University of West Georgia 65-82 on the road Monday night in a Gulf South Conference match-up. The Argonauts (6-10, 2-8 GSC) were outscored in the second half 26-39 by the Wolves (11-3, 6-3 GSC).
"I thought we played well the first half, and then we came out in the second half and their quickness took over," said head coach
Bob Stinnett. "They're probably the quickest team in the league and we just couldn't adjust."
UWF outrebounded their opponent 29-20 and were only outshot by the Wolves 45 percent (33-72) to 42 percent (24-57) but the Argos committed 22 turnovers compared to just nine by UWG.
West Florida was led by senior
Tyler Funk (Clarence, N.Y./Hillsborough CC) who scored a career-high 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting.
Jason Laatsch (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian School) also added 17 points in the loss while dishing out five assists as well.
Sophomore
Deangelo Legrier (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) totaled 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds while senior
Demetrius Moore (Paxton, Fla./Indiana State University) recorded his sixth double-double of the season after totaling 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Argos will return home next weekend when they host Valdosta State University on Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. CT.
