Laatsch leads UWF in 66-72 loss to UAH

Jason Laatsch scored 20 points for UWF Saturday afternoon

PENSACOLA, Fla.  – The University of West Florida men's basketball team fell to the University of Alabama-Huntsville 66-72 Saturday afternoon in Pensacola, Florida. The Argonauts (6-13, 2-11 GSC) were led by Jason Laatsch (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian School) who scored 20 points in 38 minutes.

"We had to battle back from another slow start," said head coach Bob Stinnett. "But we had high intensity and effort in the second half, and put is in a position to win."

West Florida started slow in the first half, and were down 16 points early in the half. However, UWF would come out of the halftime break with more effort and pulled within four of the Chargers with only :18 seconds remaining. But UAH converted on the free throw line and took the 66-72 victory.

Sophomore Justin Williams (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon HS) scored a career high 15 points by going 3-for-6 from 3-point range. Senior Demetrius Moore (Paxton, Fla./Indiana State University) added 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead UWF.

The Argos will be on the road next weekend when they travel to Lee University and Shorter University Jan. 29 and 31.
