No. 21 UWF volleyball sweeps Christian Brothers 3-0

No. 21 West Florida volleyball extends winning streak to nine

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 21-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team defeated Gulf South Conference opponent Christian Brothers 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-15) at home on Friday night. West Florida (13-2, 6-0 GSC) extends its winning streak to nine and remains unbeaten in home matches against CBU in program history. During UWF's current winning streak, the Argonauts have only dropped one set in nine matches.

"It's a game of adjustments," head coach Melissa Wolter said. "I though Holly (Mattmuller) came in and did great off the bench. At the end of the day we had our captains (Autumn Duyn and Cora Bidlack) carry us.

"It's a whole lot easier for us to do what we do in our own gym. We've got to take care of business. Each night out is an opportunity to prove who we are as a team and tonight was a good win for us."

Senior Autumn Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) and junior Cora Bidlack (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) led the Argonauts offensively with 10 kills each on the night. Duyn hit at a .333 clip while Bidlack boasted a .308 clip on the night.

UWF had a .239 team attacking percentage while CBU managed only a .042 team attacking percentage on the night. West Florida tallied 14 kills on 34 attempts with only three attack errors in the third set.

Sophomore Monique StCyr (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown HS) had a team high 32 assists with 13 digs while reigning GSC Defensive Player of the Week Tori Martella (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence HS) had 17 digs.

Junior Holly Mattmuller (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) tallied five kills on nine attempts with only one error at a .444 clip. Mattmuller also tallied six digs and a block assist in two sets.

UWF will next face GSC opponent Union (Tenn.) at home on Saturday, October 3 at 2 p.m. CT. West Florida will also face reigning GSC Tournament Champion Valdosta State at home on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m. CT.
