No. 22 UWF volleyball sweeps UAH to wrap up the regular season

West Florida posts second best regular season winning percentage in program history

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 22-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team swept Gulf South Conference opponent Alabama Huntsville 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) at home on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the regular season. West Florida (27-5, 19-1 GSC) swept its 22nd opponent of the season en route to posting the second best regular season winning percentage in program history (.844). UWF also posted the second best regular season conference winning percentage in program history (.950) during the 2015 season.
 
West Florida swept 24 opponents during the 2007 season and had a 30-5 (.857) overall record during the regular season in 2007. UWF posted undefeated regular season conference records in 2007, 2008 and 2011.
 
Junior Corisha Smith (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman HS) tallied 15 kills with only one attack error on 26 swings en route to posting a career-best attack percentage (.538) on Saturday. Smith was also effective from the service line with four aces in the win.
 
Junior Kathryn Torre (Highland, Ill./State College of Florida) had 11 kills with only two attack errors on 25 swings (.360) with three blocks. Sophomore Emily Cosgrove (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) and   junior Cora Bidlack (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) each tallied five blocks in the win and combined for eight kills.
 
Sophomore Monique StCyr (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown HS) had 37 assists and two service aces in the win while junior Tori Martella (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence HS) tallied a team-high 15 digs and a service ace.
 
Senior Autumn Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) had six kills, three blocks and 10 digs in her final regular season match of her career at the UWF Field House.
 
UWF will host the 2015 GSC Tournament Championship on November 21-22. West Florida will face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 4-seed Shorter and No. 5-seed Alabama Huntsville in the tournament semifinals on Saturday, November 21. Times for tournament matches will be determined next week.
