No. 23 UWF volleyball defeats CBU 3-1 in final regular season road match

West Florida improves to 17-1 in the GSC with win over Christian Brothers on Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 23-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team defeated Gulf South Conference opponent Christian Brothers 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20) on the road Saturday afternoon. West Florida (25-5, 17-1 GSC) remains one match ahead of North Alabama and Valdosta State in the GSC regular season standings.
 
With the win over CBU, the Argonauts improved their road record to 10-1 en route to tying the program record for best winning percentage in regular season road matches (.909). West Florida also posted 10-1 regular season road records in 2005, 2011 and 2012.
 
Junior Cora Bidlack (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) had a team-high 15 kills and four blocks in the win while fellow junior Corisha Smith (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman HS) had 14 kills and a pair of service aces on Saturday.   
 
Junior Kathryn Torre (Highland, Ill./State College of Florida) had 12 kills on 22 attempts with only two errors (.455) and also had four blocks in the win. Sophomore Emily Cosgrove (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) had a team-high five blocks and also tallied five kills on Saturday.        
 
Sophomore Monique StCyr (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown HS) had 43 assists, 17 digs, two blocks and a pair of service aces while junior Tori Martella (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence HS) tallied 22 digs and a service ace in the win.
 
West Florida will wrap up the regular season with a two-match homestand next weekend against a pair of conference opponents. UWF will host North Alabama on Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. CT before facing Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, November 14 at 2 p.m. CT.
 
UWF has already clinched a birth in the 2015 GSC Tournament and will be looking to host the tournament for the first time since 2013. The team with the best conference record at the end of the regular season will host the conference tournament.
