December 12, 2015 BOX SCORE CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of West Florida women's basketball team fell 85-82 in a tightly contest game against conference opponent Lee on Saturday afternoon. UWF stands at 3-4 on the year with a 1-2 Gulf South Conference mark.
UWF closed the first half with a four-point lead, as junior point guard
Alex Coyne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Southern Mississippi) led all players with 10 points, four assists and three makes from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes. Coyne finished the game with 24 points and 8 assists, boosting her season averages to 10.3 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Lee came out strong in the second half, however. The Flames opened the third quarter with a 14-6 run and held a 10-point lead going into the third quarter. The fourth belonged to the Argos, as UWF outscored Lee 30-23 in the last 10 minutes, despite cutting the Lee lead to just four points.
Jasmine Wigfall (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek HS) scored seven of her 16 total points in the fourth, going 5-6 at the line in the quarter and 12-13 from the charity stripe in the game. Wigfall's season free throw shooting percentage stands at .857 for the season after Saturday's performance. UWF came into the game shooting 77 percent from the line and went 23-27 on the day.
Katie Bobos (Lowell, Ind./Lowell HS) led UWF with seven rebounds on the afternoon and scored 10 points, while
Toni Brewer (Huntsville, Ala./Sparkman HS) went for 12 points and five rebounds. The game saw 14 lead changes and 11 ties.
UWF will face Shorter in Rome, Georgia, on Monday at 6 p.m. ET.
