Volleyball falls to Saint Leo 3-0 in the NCAA DII South Regional Quarterfinals

UWF ends the season with a 28-7 overall record

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 5 seed University of West Florida volleyball team fell to the No. 4 seed Saint Leo 0-3 (16-25, 23-25, 14-25) in the NCAA DII South Regional Quarterfinals on Thursday. West Florida's season comes to an end as the Argonauts finish the season with a 28-7 overall record.

"I think tonight was more about how good Saint Leo played," head coach Melissa Wolter. "We had seen them play at the (South Region Crossover), we didn't play against them but we certainly knew they were talented.  They beat us in places we didn't anticipate them beating us in.

"I thought both of their middles played really well. I thought they played great defense. I really have to give credit where credit is due. I think Saint Leo just had a great day and just really not a great day on our side of the net."

West Florida had 24 kills and 24 errors in the match for a .000 team attacking percentage. Junior Corisha Smith (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman HS) led UWF offensively with nine kills and two service aces in the loss.

Junior Tori Martella (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence HS) tallied 18 digs in the win en route to taking sole possession of the single season digs record at UWF. Martella has 572 digs this season and also ranks fourth on the career digs list at UWF (1,247).

Sophomore Monique StCyr (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown HS) tallied 12 assists, three kills and eight digs in the loss while fellow sophomore Rachel Neblett (Austin, Texas/Vista Ridge HS) added five kills and a block.

Junior Kathryn Torre (Highland, Ill./State College of Florida) had three kills (.222) and two blocks while senior Autumn Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) tallied three kills and nine digs in the final match of her career.
