CLEARWATER, Fla. – The University of West Florida softball team fell to No. 17 Tampa University 9-0 in the final game of the Eckerd College Invitational Sunday afternoon. The Argonauts fall to 1-4 (0-0 GSC) on the season while Tampa remains undefeated at 5-0 (0-0 SSC).
West Florida was held hitless in the game and had two base runners during the game after
Jenna Belser (Chipley, Fla./Holmes County HS) reached base on a walk and
Jordan Camp (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley HS) reached on an error and also stole a base.
Tampa pitcher Julia Morrow threw the no-hitter for the No. 17 Spartans a day after she threw a perfect game against Colorado Christian University.
Junior
Lauren Register (Vernon, Fla./Vernon HS) pitched four innings in relief and gave up four hits, two earned runs and struck out six batters while
Rebecca Hein (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) was credited with the loss.
The Argos will begin Gulf South Conference play next weekend when they host North Alabama at the UWF Softball Complex on Feb. 14 and 15.
