PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida softball team fell to No. 8 Alabama Huntsville 0-2 on Sunday as UAH sweeps the weekend series at the UWF Softball Complex. West Florida (6-20, 3-12 GSC) out hit the Chargers seven to six but left eight runners on base in the loss.
Junior
Lauren Register (Vernon, Fla./Vernon HS) had an impressive outing in her first start of the season. Register went 6.0 innings in the circle and scattered five hits while striking out four and allowing only three walks.
The junior left handed pitcher was clutch in the top of the sixth inning as she struck out UAH pinch hitter Perri Gilbert with the bases loaded to keep the score at 0-2. Register also went 1-for-2 on the day at the plate.
Freshman
Meghan Toney (Huntsville, Ala./Madison County HS) led the Argonauts offensively by going 2-for-2 on the day with a walk drawn.
West Florida will next face Gulf South Conference opponent West Georgia on the road March 21-22.
