PENSACOLA, Fla. – The 25th-ranked University of West Florida men's soccer team scored twice in a span of five minutes to defeat the University of Mobile, 2-0, at the UWF Soccer Complex Monday.
UWF (5-0) remained perfect on the season and posted its third shutout in the last four games.
The Argonauts outshot the Rams (6-3) 20-5, including a 13-3 edge in the second half.
Sophomore Chandler Castleman (Pace, Fla./Pace HS) broke the stalemate in the 76th minute when he tapped in his first score of the season. Senior Jorge Chirinos (Tampa, Fla./Leto HS/Darton State) took a free kick from just outside the box that was initially stopped by Mobile goalkeeper Hayden Dees, but rolled into open space for Castleman's game winner.
The Argos added an insurance goal 4:22 later as Castleman was the setup man, feeding junior Marteinn Urbancic (Reykjavik, Iceland/Commercial College of Iceland) for his second score of the year.
Junior Andre Moreira (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/Colegio de A a Z/Fresno Pacific) won his third game in goal, stopping four shots and posting his first shutout of the year.
Chirinos led the Argos with four shots.
