September 25, 2015 BOX SCORE JACKSON, Tenn. – The University of West Florida women's soccer team fell to Union 1-0 in a Gulf South Conference matchup on Friday night. With the loss, UWF falls to 5-2 on the year, and owns a 1-1 record in the GSC.
The Bulldogs got out to an early lead with a goal in the sixth minute, after Union's Kelsey Wilkes rebounded a shot off the crossbar. UWF kept control of the ball for the majority of the first half, despite trailing 1-0 for much of the way. At halftime, West Florida was outshooting Union 16-5, with nine shots on goal compared to two for the Bulldogs.
UWF finished the night with 20 shots overall and 11 shots on goal. Six of the shots on goal for UWF came from leading goal-scorers
Kaley Ward (Saint Cloud, Fla./Tampa) and
Daryl Bell (Sarasota, Fla./Southeast HS), who each had three on the night.

Emily Grammer (Panama City, Fla./Mosley HS) stifled the Bulldog offense, particularly after the early goal. Union could get off only four shots after the goal in the 6th minute, and just one of those came in the second half. UWF also held the Bulldogs without a corner kick for the entirety of the game.
West Florida has now outshot its opponents 139-48 on the season, and has the advantage in shots on goal 71-22.
UWF will face Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start time.
