CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The No. 20-ranked University of West Florida volleyball team defeated Lee 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-18) in the team's first Gulf South Conference road match of the season on Friday afternoon. West Florida (10-2, 3-0 GSC) moves into second place in the conference with the win after sweeping its sixth consecutive match.
UWF rebounded after a slow start to the match in the first set as the team had seven kills and eight attack errors. The Argos got back to form in the second set with 16 kills with six errors and had 12 kills with only one error in the third set at a .314 clip.
Sophomore
Rachel Neblett (Austin, Texas/Vista Ridge HS) had an impressive night for the Argonauts with seven kills (.308) and five blocks in the win including a solo block.
Senior
Autumn Duyn (Venice, Fla./Venice HS) led UWF offensively with nine kills and a service ace while junior
Corisha Smith (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman HS) tallied six kills and had a team-high 11 digs.
Sophomore
Monique StCyr (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown HS) tallied 30 assists, nine digs and a pair of kills while junior
Tori Martella (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence HS) added nine digs and a pair of service aces.
West Florida will next face GSC opponent Shorter on Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m. ET.
