PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's basketball team dropped a Gulf South Conference game to Lee 98-80 on Thursday. UWF falls to 3-14 on the year with a 2-12 GSC mark.

All five UWF starters reached double-digits, and
Rashaan Benson led the team with 14 points.
Mario Stramaglia,
Jelani Pruitt, and
Lendward Griffin scored 11, 12 and 10, respectively, while
Austin Somerfield totaled 11 points and a game-high 9 rebounds despite playing just four minutes in the first half. Though Lee led for much of the first 20 minutes, UWF kept the margin close and a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Benson cut the deficit to just five at halftime.

UWF scored 80 points in a game for the sixth time this season, upping its season average to 73.5 points per game. While the Argo defense struggled, UWF shot 50 percent from the beyond the arc for just the third time and made 80 of its free throws for the fourth time in the 2015-16 campaign.

The Argos held their own on the boards, coming just one rebound short of matching Lee's total of 39. Benson added three rebounds and three assists, while
Deangelo Legrier and Pruitt grabbed six rebounds. Somerfield finished the night with two blocks and two steals in addition to his 11 points and 9 boards.

West Florida will host Shorter on Saturday and will recognize its newest Athletics Hall of Fame class at halftime of the men's game. The game is set to follow the women's game with an estimated start time of 4 p.m.
